Marketers on Pinterest, rejoice! The quickly growing content-sharing site has started rolling out a web analytics dashboard. This dashboard shows how many views a pin has, how much website traffic is generated directly from Pinterest, and how many have pinned from a website. It is available free to companies with a verified website.
This is great news for businesses with a web presence on Pinterest. Today, online marketing is driven by data, and Pinterest is stepping up to the plate to offer its users just that. These analytics will be modest at first, but there’s little doubt Pinterest will roll out more robust data aggregating features in the coming months. According to socialtimes.com, Pinterest accounts for 10% of social e-commerce visits. Mashable states that daily Pinterest users have increased by more than 145 percent since the beginning of 2012. That’s no small feat for this relatively new social site.
Retail clothing and companies marketing more “visual content” seem to have a definite advantage in the world of Pinterest. But sharable content in a visual format can be created by any company, no matter what you’re marketing. Stay tuned for my follow-up post about how the everyday Joe can create visually appealing content that will drive website traffic, and increase consumer engagement.
